JA Canada

Historica makes an annual donation to JA Canada. Since 1955, JA Canada has educated and inspired over 5 million Canadian youth. Each year, over 200,000 Canadian students participate in their financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs.

Participating in JA programs transforms students and gives them the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in school, business, and life. Studies have shown that today’s most in-demand jobs didn’t exist ten years ago. JA prepares students to succeed in tomorrow’s careers, solve tomorrow’s challenges and launch businesses that create tomorrow’s jobs.

  • Isolated senior holiday (December) gift bags
  • Saint John Y camp donations
  • Scholarships
  • Ukraine refugee relief
  • Contributions to school enrichment programs (transportation of students to Imperial Theatre programming)

Teen Resource Centre

The Historica Helps committee is honored to be a proud sponsor of TRC, supporting their incredible work throughout the year. Whether it's organizing a back-to-school drive or ensuring over 20 teen boys and girls have stockings to open on Christmas, we are dedicated to helping make a difference in the lives of these young individuals. Together, we can create brighter moments and lasting memories for those in need.

First Steps

We partnered with the first steps to join Adopt A Room Program! We have adopted a room to be completely renovated for a mother and child. We can not wait to see the room once it is finished.

More information about First Steps:
First Steps provides a safe and healthy environment for pregnant and parenting young women and their children who have no safe place to live. As the only organization of our kind, we are partially funded by the Province of New Brunswick, serving all of Atlantic Canada, and are active partners in New Brunswick’s Poverty Reduction plan.

First Steps programs and services support both pregnant and/or parenting young women and include mental health services, education, addiction services, childcare, and support programs. Young women are encouraged to further develop parenting skills, financial management, and complete their high school education or a training program.

Stone Church Conservation

Did you know?

The Stone Church offers an abundance of services to the community, extending beyond spiritual care. Not only do they provide laundry services and hot meals for those in need, but they also help prepare individuals for the workforce. We are proud to have contributed to their conservation plan, ensuring that the church remains a pillar of support and strength for the community throughout 2024 and beyond.

Join us in supporting this incredible mission and helping to preserve such an important resource for our neighbors!

We are inspired by the Friars family’s commitment to making a lasting difference, and we’re honored to contribute to their efforts. Together, we are building a stronger, more equitable future for all.

The Annual Spring-Cleaning Initiative

Celebrating Earth Day with Uptown Saint John: A Yearly Tradition of Community Clean-Up

Each year, we proudly partner with Uptown Saint John and our neighbors to make a positive impact on our community. On Earth Day, our entire team comes together to participate in a city-wide clean-up, working hand-in-hand to help keep our beautiful city pristine. This event is something we look forward to every year, as it’s an opportunity to give back and contribute to the environment we all cherish. We are grateful for the chance to work alongside Uptown Saint John and our neighbors to keep our city clean and green.

Together, we can make a difference! 🌍💚

IWK Toy Drive

IWK

Keith & Margot (Owners of Historica) host an annual toy drive during the Christmas Holidays in support of the IWK. To honor the memory of Margot’s sister, Mary Jane McLaughlin. On September 15th, 2006, Dr. Mary-Jane McLaughlin passed away. Mary-Jane was continuing her medical training in Cleveland, Ohio, and had planned to return to Halifax to work at the IWK Hospital. Each year the team collects new, unwrapped toys and cash donations. These donations, along with others, allow Santa Claus to make a special visit to the hospital to give out toys to the young patients who can’t go home for Christmas. Several of these toys will be used in the psychiatric ward at the IWK. This wonderful group of individuals received an IWK Board Award of Community Excellence for this extremely successful fundraiser. The Historica Helps Community is proud to support this wonderful cause.
